Mexico, 1935
Beatriz Zamora's work crystallized in black as the visible, material and conceptual axis of her painting. If black is not only the absence of light (in its most traditional definition), but the existence of space, Zamora uses it to create structure and reflection based on her research on black materials in nature, proving that, just as people who have lived in the snow can recognize shades of white, so it is with black: the vital color of the Earth that inhabits its depths, but also our own. Beatriz Zamora has exhibited more than 80 times individually from 1962 to date and nearly 300 times in group exhibitions in museums, galleries, palaces, forums, foundations, cultural centers, private and public institutions, bookstores and art spaces in Mexico and abroad. Beatriz Zamora's work is among the most important in the national scene.
