PEDRO VAZ

Pedro Vaz's work starts from research based on the themes of nature and landscape, exploring diverse media such as painting and video installation.

Recent solo exhibitions include Terra Firme, Colégio das Artes, Coimbra (2018), Azimute, 111 Gallery, Lisbon (2018); Superstition Wilderness, Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre, Luxembourg (2018); Peralta a Boulder Canyon, Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art, Phoenix, USA (2017); Trilha do Facão, Kubikgallery, Porto, Portugal (2017) and group exhibitions include Second Nature, The Kreeger Museum, Washington D.C., USA, The Treasure and the Pavilion of the City of Italy, Museo del Paesaggio, Torre di Mostro, Italy.  

He has carried out residencies such as Humus Interdisciplinary Residency (2017), Padua, Italy; PIVÔ Research, São Paulo, Brazil; LABVERDE - Artistic Immersion Program 2016 in the Amazon (2016), Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve, Manaus, Brazil. As well as received awards including the LOOP DISCOVER Award, 2017 (finalist) at Loop Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain and LOOPS.LISBOA 2016 (finalist), Chiado Contemporary Art Museum, Lisbon. His work has appeared published in Pentimento, ed. CAPC - Anozero Coimbra Contemporary Art Biennale (2018) and A imaginação da Pedra, ed. Consulado General de Portugal in São Paulo, Brazil (2017), among others.
