HORACIO QUIROZ
Mexico, 1981
Everything in our universe has a dual manifestation, this is so obvious that we take it for granted. The truth is that everything, absolutely everything that exists is composed of the duality of opposing forces. The human being as part of the cosmos is not exempt from this, being made of spirit and matter.
Horacio Quiroz's painting is a dialogue between these apparently discrepant forces that explores the human condition, gender, identity and the relationship with the environment through colors, textures and matter that give shape to corporeal volumes that reveal an imaginary closely linked to his daily psychological processes.
He studied Graphic Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. In 2013 he reinvented himself and began his career as a self-taught painter, after working for many years as a creative in advertising for international agencies.
In recent years, she has participated in the Rufino Tamayo XVII Painting Biennial and has been artist-in-residence at the Plop X Cob Residency in London, UK. His work has been exhibited at Arts Santa Monica in Barcelona, at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (MACO), Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City, as well as in galleries and fairs in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Australia, Turkey and China. His work was a focal part of the interior design in the film set of the Mexican movie "Perfectos Desconocidos" directed by Manolo Caro.
